A little more Provence – Goult, Luberon

_DSC2571

After spending a lovely week with Mum and Dad in St. Jeannet near Nice, we travelled further into Provence to a beautiful, little hilltop town in the Luberon district.  Thanks to Sal and Ned’s recommendation from their stay here last year, we found ourselves in a three levelled, gorgeously decorated stone house in the centre of the tiny village of Goult.  The house is a holiday home for an English family, so it was full of English books, DVD’s and a heated swimming pool – what more could we want…  SO nice to immerse ourselves in some new books and Boothie to watch a few more Game Of Thrones episodes.

We spent the week exploring the Luberon – lots of lovely hilltop towns, food markets in a different town square each day – so much cheese and fresh produce and even spent a day cycling from Cousillon to Menerbes (where the book ‘A Year in Provence’ is set).

The roads continued to be spectacularly narrow and windy with fast cars and aggressive drivers – Boothie was amazing!!  The roads and scenery in this area, was just like watching the Tour de France coverage.  Driving up Mt. Ventoux was a highlight – so many cyclists trying to emulate ‘le tour’ – even more impressive that most of them looked at least twenty years older than us!
